FXUS64 KSJT 210524 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 1224 AM CDT Sun Jun 21 2026 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Hot and humid conditions return for Sunday and Monday, with heat index values again climbing to near or above the 105 mark in some areas. A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of the Concho Valley and the Big Country on Sunday. - Low chances (20 to 30%) for scattered storms Monday night across the Big Country. Locally gusty winds and heavy rainfall will be the main concerns. - Mainly dry conditions Tuesday through the end of the week, with above normal temperatures through the period. && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Sunday) Issued at 130 PM CDT Sat Jun 20 2026 The hot and fairly humid conditions West Central Texas experienced today will progress into Sunday with temperatures increasing into the lower 90s and up to 105, and dewpoint temperatures in the mid 60s to lower 70s. These higher dewpoint temperatures with the hot high temperatures Sunday afternoon will create dangerously high heat index values between 105 and 108 degrees across portions of the Big Country and Concho Valley. Therefor, a Heat Advisory has been issued for 1PM through 10PM Sunday for Much of the Big Country and western and central portions of the Concho Valley tomorrow. There is a slight chance for isolated showers and sub- severe thunderstorms this afternoon across our southeastern counties, given the ample moisture and diurnal heating. Overnight lows tonight will struggle to fall below the mid to low 70s across much of West Central Texas. && .LONG TERM... (Monday night through next Sunday) Issued at 1138 PM CDT Sat Jun 20 2026 Hot and humid conditions are in store for Monday, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid 90s south, to the upper 90s to near 104 across portions of the Big Country and Concho Valley. Heat index values are forecast to exceed 105 degrees (105 to 107 degrees) where the hottest temperatures are expected, and a Heat Advisory will likely be needed for portions of the Concho Valley and Big Country Monday afternoon. A stalled frontal boundary will be draped across north Texas/southern Oklahoma Monday into Tuesday. There is a low chance (20 to 30%) for showers and a few thunderstorms across the northern Big Country mainly Monday evening. Otherwise, the rest of the week will be hot but not quite as humid, with above normal temperatures, as upper level high pressure expands across West Texas. Given slightly drier conditions, heat index values should remain below advisory levels through Friday. Temperatures warm a bit more by next weekend, which may result in the need for additional Heat Advisories for portions of the area. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1223 AM CDT Sun Jun 21 2026 MVFR level ceilings are forecast to return across the region overnight. The I-10 corridor (KSOA, KJCT, and KBBD) is where the bulk of the activity is expected. These ceilings should dissipate by late morning and early afternoon. Meanwhile, fairly strong, gusty winds will develop and continue through the remainder of the TAF. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
