This will combine with breezy westerly winds this afternoon alongside deep atmospheric mixing to yield elevated to short-lived critical fire weather conditions. A cold front sweeping thru eastern NM tonight into Monday morning will bring good to excellent recoveries there, staying poor along and west of the Rio Grande Valley. Tuesday through Friday sees an increased risk for scattered virga showers and dry thunderstorms producing strong and erratic gusty winds and the threat of new fire starts across western NM and into the Rio Grande Valley.
