Primary forecast concerns through the time frame will be the presence of a marine layer (a lower stratus cloud deck) along with the potential for reduced visibility. By late in the evening, a cloud deck with ceilings of 1000-1500 feet will be moving back over the Sitka area. Areas at or above this cloud deck will experience significantly reduced visibility, with the cloud deck expected to linger through most of the day on Sunday before clearing out Sunday afternoon. Precipitation is not expected. Areas closer to sea level (and beneath the cloud deck) in the vicinity of Verstovia may see a period of reductions in visibility due to fog through the late evening/overnight hours, but with visibility improving by mid-morning.
