Valid 190657Z - 190830Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 598 continues. SUMMARY...The severe wind and hail threat continues within Severe Thunderstorm Watch 598. Additionally, a localized severe threat will exist with a compact line segment of storms east of the watch over central Missouri. DISCUSSION...Strong/severe thunderstorms continue within a WNW-ESE-oriented zone across northeast KS and west-central MO at 0645z, with recent reports of golfball-sized hail and severe gusts. The storms persist within a zone of strong low-level warm/moist advection, moderate MUCAPE averaging 1500 - 2000 J/kg, and 45-50 kts of effective shear. Given this environment, a combination of both supercell and multicell cluster storm modes is likely continue through 09z with an attendant risk for large hail and damaging gusts. Downstream, a compact line segment of storms was moving into central MO southwest of Jefferson City. These storms were along the northern fringe of a steeper mid-level lapse rate plume and within a gradient in MUCAPE of 1000 to 1500 J/kg. While some severe risk is expected to continue with this line of storms, the overall longevity is uncertain and a watch in this area is not currently expected. ..Bunting/Mosier.. 08/19/2026 ...Please see www.spc.noaa.gov for graphic product...
